Shiney, arrested early this morning, was produced before a magistrate's court in Suburban Andheri where hearing on prosecutor S S Kasture and Ahuja's counsel Shrikant Shivade, the court granted police custody of Ahuja till June 18 (3days) to conduct further investigations. The court also denied permission for Shiney to meet his family members, present in the court. However his counsel is allowed to visit him daily till 18 June.The statements of witnesses in the case were still to be recorded and clothes recovered from the victim and Ahuja have been sent to Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory for tests, the results of which are awaited, Kasture said.

Indian film industry was shocked by news of Ahuja's arrest. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt said "It is a death knell for his career. I don't think you can ever recover from such a heinous allegation. If he is guilty, then as an industry we must express our outrage at the incident."
